The Indiana University (IU) School of Dentistry has been advancing oral health in the state and beyond since 1879, when it was founded as the Indiana Dental College. Job Summary

  • Generates patient statements and other invoices
  • Data entry, posting payments, reconciling billings and invoices, checking balances and maintaining patient files
  • Works with insurance companies to perform insurance billing, review, and verification of accounts in accordance with program provisions
  • Verifies eligibility and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations, entering medical codes, requesting payments, and resolving account issues
  • May assist with other functions of revenue cycle operations
  • May perform accounts receivable audits and adjustments
  • May run reports related to medical billing

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

Preferred

  • Post high school courses in insurance billing, data processing, and medical terminology

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, medical billing, or related field

Preferred

  • Experience in dental insurance billing

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$35,000-$39,332.80 annually
