Summary:

The Laundry Assistant supports the daily operations of the Academy’s laundry services by washing, drying, folding, and distributing cadet and institutional linens and uniforms. This position plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and orderly environment for cadets and staff. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate commercial washers, dryers, and related laundry equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Sort, wash, dry, fold, and organize cadet uniforms, linens, athletic gear, towels, and other items according to established procedures.
• Inspect laundry items for damage, stains, or excessive wear, and report concerns to the supervisor.
• Ensure proper handling of garments requiring special care, including stain treatment and delicate fabric management.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, including laundry machines, carts, and folding stations.
• Follow all safety and sanitation standards, including proper chemical handling and equipment safety protocols.
• Assist with inventory of laundry supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed.
• Track, label, and return laundry items to appropriate locations in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provide support during peak periods, such as special events, athletic seasons, or campus-wide needs.

• Uphold the Academy's standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and service at all times.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in laundry, housekeeping, or custodial services preferred but not required.
• Must pass background checks and meet all employment requirements of the Academy.
• Reliability and strong work ethic.
• Respectful, professional attitude.
• Commitment to cleanliness and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Alignment with the mission and values of the Academy

Work Environment:

• Ability to operate or learn commercial laundry equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to bend, lift, carry, push, and pull items frequently throughout the day.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Ability to work in warm or humid conditions due to laundry equipment.
