Job Description

Manufacturing Maintenance Technician – Pneumatics, Hydraulics & PLCs

Beloit, Wisconsin | $37.88–$43.27/hr + $1.00/hr shift differential

Shifts now: 2nd (Tue–Sat) or 3rd (Sun–Thu). With tenure, a Mon–Fri path can open.

Your mission

When a line stops, you lead the comeback. You’re the person who can unravel a PLC fault, trace a schematic, and safely work around a 480V 3‑phase motor—then switch gears to rebuild a pump, set a control valve, or tune a hydraulic circuit. You blend electrical savvy with mechanical craftsmanship to keep production moving.

How you’ll contribute

  • Diagnose and repair AC/DC electrical systems using a volt‑ohm meter, amp meter, and oscilloscope
  • Troubleshoot and install pneumatic/hydraulic systems, control valves, and centrifugal/positive displacement pumps
  • Apply PLC knowledge, preventive maintenance routines, and work order tracking to maximize uptime
  • Operate lathes and mills; perform arc and Heliarc® welding for fabrication and repair
  • Jump on maintenance calls, assist with in‑progress fixes, and restore equipment quickly
  • Inspect assets, create prioritized repair lists, and execute both immediate and long‑range actions
  • Mentor early‑career techs through complex diagnostics

Setting and pace

Big facilities. Loud equipment. Limited climate control—indoor temperatures shift with the season. Work mix and hours vary by area needs.

Career and benefits

Join Frito‑Lay and gain visibility across PepsiCo. We offer health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company contribution, paid vacation, and more—alongside strong pay.

Readiness checklist

  • Comfortable with high‑voltage wiring and multi‑craft maintenance
  • Strong base in mechanical/electrical repair; food & beverage manufacturing exposure is a plus
  • Electrical certification, technical school, manufacturing maintenance, or welding experience helpful
  • Preferred: ~2+ years’ training/experience in mechanical/electrical repair in manufacturing

Not quite at this level? Explore our entry‑level maintenance roles that align with your current skills.

Before an onsite interview, you’ll complete a hands‑on electrical skills test.

Minimum qualifications

  • 18 years or older
  • Available for weekends and holidays
  • Able to lift 15–50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Able to climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for long periods with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Comfort in environments with extreme temperatures, humidity, hazardous/loud equipment, and slippery surfaces

What we look for

  • Customer service: treat every teammate like a valued customer
  • Flexibility: pivot between priorities and stay composed under pressure
  • Self‑starter: own quality and pace when working independently
  • Safety‑driven: follow policies and procedures—safety is everyone’s job

Core competencies

  • PLC troubleshooting and PLC programming
  • Electrical schematics literacy
  • Electrical/electronic systems diagnostics & repair
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
  • Experience in food and beverage manufacturing
  • Excellent communication and basic computer skills
  • High School diploma or GED

Technology you’ll use

  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
