Job Description

A Carter Lumber Mechanic is responsible for performing daily repairs, emergency and preventative maintenance on all trucks, trailers, forklifts and other equipment. This is accomplished by diagnosing equipment issues and performing repairs in a timely and cost effective manner, ensuring our vehicles are DOT compliant. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years post qualification experience
  • Extensive knowledge in the repair and maintenance of Heavy diesel engines
  • Strong Diagnostics work background; ability to troubleshoot and accurately diagnose work
  • Superior time management skills, attention to detail
  • Exceptional verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Dependable, responsible team player with a positive attitude
  • Able to work independently in a team environment

Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Responsible for maintaining and repairing all trucks, trailers, forklifts and other equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and ensures that they are repaired in a proper and cost effective manner.
  • Prioritizes and sets goals based on importance of project that needs attention.
  • Inspects and documents the maintenance performed on equipment.

Safety

  • Adheres to safety requirements when operating tools and equipment.
  • Ensures safety functions on equipment are operating properly.
  • Handles material in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Reports any defects or safety issues immediately.
  • Completes required safety training.
