As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Traveling Drywall Carpenter to join our team and work on high-impact healthcare construction projects throughout the Southeast U.S.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Traveling Drywall Carpenter to perform drywall installation, finishing, and repair on healthcare construction projects. This position requires 100% travel during the week, with most weekends spent at home. You will work alongside a dedicated crew, delivering clean, professional results in high-spec healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Drywall Installation and Finishing:

  • Measure, cut, and install drywall panels according to layout and blueprint specifications.
  • Tape, mud, and finish joints, corners, seams, and surface imperfections.
  • Apply textured finishes when required.
  • Perform drywall repair and patchwork to maintain seamless finishes.
  • Ensure precise alignment and secure installation of drywall sheets.
  • Inspect finished work to ensure smooth surfaces and clean lines.

Team Collaboration and Project Coordination:

  • Work closely with project managers, foremen, and other tradespeople to ensure quality compliance.
  • Maintain clear communication with the construction team to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordinate daily tasks and adjust plans to accommodate on-site conditions.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to complete assigned tasks efficiently.

Tool Maintenance and Safety Compliance:

  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe and working condition.
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols on active job sites.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Keep the job site clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Travel and Availability:

  • Travel to various project sites across the Southeast U.S. during the week.
  • Return home on most weekends.
  • Maintain reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Must live within 1 hour of our Gastonia, NC office.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Drywall Carpenter, Drywall Finisher, or Installer.
  • Skilled in drywall layout, hanging, finishing, and patch repair.
  • Experience in healthcare construction is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Proficient with drywall installation tools such as trowels, joint knives, drywall sanders, and power tools.
  • Knowledge of drywall finishing techniques, including taping, mudding, and sanding.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically fit for manual tasks, including lifting, carrying, and standing for long periods.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and in various weather conditions.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
