Job Title: Technical Writer
Location: Batesville, IN (Hybrid)
Contract Length: 12 Months
Preference: Local candidates preferred
Strong proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker
Mechanical aptitude ability to understand and work with mechanical concepts
3+ years of experience as a technical writer (or formal education in technical/professional writing)
High attention to detail and ability to work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication
Experience with content management and version control systems
Ability to break down and communicate complex technical concepts clearly
Familiarity with tools like InDesign and Oxygen XML is a plus
As a Technical Writer , you'll support documentation for medical devices-editing, formatting, and proofreading materials aimed at end-users. Most work is done with guidance, and the focus is on maintaining style consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:Edit and format operational and instructional documentation
Revise documents based on product changes with input from Sustaining Engineering
Occasionally create new instructional documents for large-scale updates
Collaborate with other writers to ensure quality, clarity, and style adherence
Participate in planning and documentation strategy for assigned projects
Conduct interviews with engineers and technical staff to gather information
Provide input for technical illustrations and artwork
Assist with translation vendor coordination and cost estimates
Support cross-functional teams with documentation needs and project deadlines
Associate's degree in Technical Communication, Professional Writing, or related field preferred , not required
3 5 years of experience in technical writing or documentation
Skilled in clear, concise, user-friendly writing
Able to interpret and utilize engineering drawings
Knowledge or experience with FDA/regulatory documentation requirements is a plus
Ability to manage time across multiple projects and work under tight deadlines
