Barclays LifeSkills Programme
With Barclays, we have a long-standing partnership where we have been implementing the Barclays LifeSkills Programme, a unique initiative that helps bridge the employability gap with skills to provide a way back to the workforce. This enables individuals from underserved communities, be it gender, sexual orientation, persons with disabilities, or anyone who wants to get back to work but for several reasons, to face challenges. While the Barclays LifeSkills initiative has supported a number of people to get sustainable jobs, what has stood out is the enthusiasm of the Barclays colleagues who have always come forward to support the communities through different campaigns.
Short-term Industry Ready Program
Our "Short-term Industry Ready Program" is specifically designed to empower individuals in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and swiftly equips individuals with practical skills for the professional world, where we collaborate with DXC Technology. Tailored for quick, effective learning, the program addresses the urgent need for job-ready participants. Focusing on key industry skills, it ensures a rapid transition to the workplace. The impact is immediate – participants emerge ready and confident for success in their chosen fields. This has helped more than 5000 youth in just a quarter.

My journey began in the humble town of Selu, Parbhani district. As a child, I often wondered about my father's small diary, always by his side. One day, I couldn't resist peeking inside. What I saw touched me deeply. Amongst the daily expenses, I found a silent story of my father's sacrifices for our family. In that diary, alongside bills, were the little things we took for granted – like buying flavored milk for my brother. Each entry spoke of the burdens my father carried, hidden behind his smile. It filled me with a mix of emotions, from gratitude for his dedication to admiration for his strength. Inspired by his commitment, I set out on a journey of self-improvement. Alongside my dreams of success, I harbored a quieter wish – to give my father a holiday free from worries. I wanted to see him relax and enjoy life's simple pleasures, away from the weight of responsibility. In the hard moments of life, I found a small spark of ambition to guide me. I realized that academic excellence alone wouldn't guarantee success, and it was this hunger for opportunity that led me to the Barclays Life Skills Training Program – for improved confidence. Enrolling without hesitation, I embraced the program with efforts, recognizing it as a rope of support in the storm of competition. With the guidance of supportive mentors, I enhanced my skills, learning to articulate my thoughts with precision and put forward my opinions in group discussions. The transformation was profound. Three job offers awaited me at the end of my journey, each a testament to the period I had made in self-discovery. Joining Tata Consultancy Services brought not just a career but a sense of fulfillment I had never experienced before. Yet, In the midst of success, there's one memory that stays with me. – the pride in my father's eyes as I handed him a well-deserved break from the silent struggles of life. It was a moment of pure happiness, a testament to the fruits of hard work and determination. My journey, though humble, exemplifies the power of resilience and the importance of cherishing the little moments that define our lives.
